Sin City, It's Not!

Las Vegas, often referred to as Sin City
But a far departure from Sodom and Gomorrah
Las Vegas is like Conrad Twitty
Has more than that place in Florida
Las Vegas, when we get down to the nitty gritty
Has developed a very special formula
People come here for more than the titty
So there’s really no need to warn your ma

In Las Vegas, there’s a lot that’s really pretty
We’ve much more than what’s stuffed in a bra
So, now I want you to take this ditty
And give it to both your ma and pa
Vegas, a place where you may win if you outbid me
Or if you’re a member of Sha Na Na

By Ricky J. Fico

perhaps you need a crutch
Staring at what could
belong to Dolly Parton
You can look but dare not touch

Dressed in polyester,
you resemble Steve Martin
Or a cast member of Starsky and Hutch
A dance upon a floor
reminding you of the North Pole
Perhaps the flow to your heart
is a bit too much

Near the stage is a group
of bachelors fresh off the jet
Ready to roll the dice
after they match your bet
You think it’d be nice
if you could only catch your breath
Go ahead and turn the page,
the show’s not over yet

The guy who just got engaged,
he eyes his favorite pet
A Rhino, a jaguar or a cheetah,
on the prowl without regret
The wino, the glad squire,
and the husband of Lolita
Howling and Shouting
to those with the biggest set

By Ricky J. Fico

You come to Vegas because you hear
there is so much to do
The strip is exciting;
you will really enjoy the view
Chased by the fleet-footed cat
and a crazy horse too

You come to Vegas because this place
has more than your local zoo
Soon as you deplane you’ll realize this world
really belongs to you
You come to Vegas,
you don’t have anything better to do
A sapphire, a diamond
and three cherries waiting for you

Las Vegas, its neon lights
in a luminescent hue
Chasing the fleet-footed cat
and a crazy horse too

It's Show Biz, Babe!!!

Random's Camera

You were on your way to the CES show
But instead ended up on the CSI
In Vegas, you never know
When you’ll be caught in the camera’s eye
Las Vegas is being filmed almost nonstop
From atop the Strat and the Luxor too
You don't have to be the King of Pop
To make it on the Vegas News

While in Vegas, be prepared for a starring role
It’s Hollywood, Babe, oh yes it is
It matters not if you’re rich or on the dole
Your Show is part of the biz
Holy Toledo - put on your Tuxedo
And your Gucci shoes
Here comes Charo riding upon a torpedo
Singing her Hoochie Coochie Coos

Abracadabra

Well, I think it time I create some magic
Soon I'll be raising the wand again
The Wheel of Fortune may have Pat Sajak
But in Vegas, we have the Amazing Jonathan

You will be amazed and won't believe your eyes
Because in Vegas, there are many twists and angles
Oh, you are really in for a big surprise
when being freaked out by the likes of Chris Angel

In Las Vegas, it's much more than sleight of hand
You'll be amazed by the latest trick, this I promise
After an early lunch and a bash at the Grand
Go and check out the mastery of Rick Thomas

When I was young, I found ways to be inspired
often by looking at the life of Helen Keller
The life she led was one that I truly admired
now I think it time I tell Penn and Teller

By: R.J. Fico

This Vegas Ditty, Rap & Romp features the well-known Penn & Teller, Chris Angel and Rick Thomas who have become such a large part of Las Vegas's allure. As I had said time and time again, Las Vegas is truly magical and the acts depicted here attest mightily to this assessment. While in Vegas, do yourself a huge favor and check out a magic show or two.

Mystere-ious

I marvel at the dexterity and fortitude
of those starring in
Mystere
An amazing triumph of humanity
to soothe both the eye and ear

Athleticism without the vanity
gets from me more than a cheer
Triumphing over the trampoline
seemingly without worry or fear

I've been known to treasure many
an
island -both far and near
Like the splendors of nature depicted
within the theaters of
 Mystere.

Honored eight times as "Best Production Show" by the Las Vegas Review-Journal

Do You Have The Vegas Idea?

The palace reigning imperial
housing the Studebaker and DeLorean
Not far from the Emerald
production of Kirk Kerkorian
"Lots of luck, sir!"
says the queen upon the Nile
who bears a grin when passing the gin
to the happy crowd
camped alongside the aisle

"Who wants to be a millionaire?"
says Meredith Viera
'We do," says the girls gone crazy
at the Riviera
Molded and shapely,
images do not escape me
So many memories
to help relive that era

St. Mark's Square
and at a Madame's dare
Patrons enter and cannot
believe their eyes
There is Brad, Michael
and a full-scaled Cher
and a man
focused on Marilyn's thighs

(Featuring Crazy Girls at the Riviera, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum at the Venetian, Vintage Car Collection at the Imperial Palace)

At The Ocean's Edge

Las Vegas is not far from the ocean's edge. Ah, yes, to further the love!

At The Ocean's Edge

Alone now --you and me, hand and hand
upon the shore of sea and grains of sand
Above, the stars glistening, and angels listening
to the heart of a woman, the soul of this man
Caressing softly your gentle face
we fall to our knees, a strong embrace

Love blooms fully before the ocean's edge
heaven awaits our body’s pledge
The waves roll in, sprayed with a gentle mist
The map of your skin navigates my kiss

You murmur softly love's ample song
violins, harps and the thrash of gong
Two hearts beat together, rhythms compete
Love on the ocean's edge, echoes repeat
Caverns of night, the starlit womb
Ecstasy rises from the tomb

Long time waiting, I know too your carnal needs
down in your valley I plant the seeds
You are so delicate yet strong
Hearts as one, the final song

Radio Daze (Ode to KKLZ 96.3)

I was caught on the I-15
When I reached for the radio
and tuned in KKLZ
That's where that crazy Jim Tofte
will probably tell me
that Charly and Mike are up a tree
Reporting on the traffic
something that really should
matter to me
But to be honest,
I don't care
because I'm listening
to KKLZ

Just yesterday morning,
I heard the sounds of a tuba
Hmm, I had probably channeled
in the wrong station
Half asleep, I asked myself
Where the heck is the Big Kahuna?
I really need to heed his warning
before I address the nation

Fumbling across the dial,
Where the heck is 96.3?
I hadn't heard Led Zep in a while
Hmm, how can that be?
Finally, thankfully . . . a voice
Saying just to me
“You’re listening to KKLZ!”
At this juncture
I have no other choice
Than listen
to the Classics on 96.3

Las Vegas - The World Under One Sky

Las Vegas, its lights
capturing the essence of you
Sparkles of neon,
Enrapturing every season
under the stars and a well-lit moon
The Las Vegas nights
 filling your every appetite
and rewarding  your  ear
 with the perfect tune

Las Vegas, is the "World Under One Sky"
whether you are in for the stay
or just passin' by
From the Tower of Eiffel
to the Pyramid of Luxor
or Rome's lullaby
Vegas has paved the way
to a Showcase for  your every passion
its worldly magnificence
right before your eyes

Ricky J. Fico

Las Vegas - the "Entertainment Capital of the World!" Las Vegas - the "City that Never Sleeps." Las Vegas - the "Jewel of the Desert!" Las Vegas - the oasis in the desert where dreams are made!

Spirit of Vegas - Business As Usual

A major mega-merger
adding Mandalay Resorts Group
To the MGM/Mirage family
And the little man’s on the corner getting the scoop
Of ice cream so he’d have something to give to Channel Three

Las Vegas has the Venetian
built by Sheldon Adelson
And the little man’s on the corner preachin’
Tellin’ us we must pull the handle to win

Another mega-merger,
putting Caesar’s
In the pocket of Harrah’s
On the corner, sits a group of geezers
Owning up to something that was once Yogi Berra’s

The New Frontier, once owned by Phil Ruffin
And the little man’s on the corner
Huffin’ and puffin’ after filling up on muffins
Provided by Little Jack Horner

Mega this and mega that,
big deals grace the pages
Of the Vegas dailies
And the little man on the corner-
a peer among sages
He once worked at Bally's

In Vegas, The Donald has now entered the scene
To hang his shingle
While the man on the corner shares his dream
Of making it home after hitting a single
